You can’t unsee it
With the domestic football season reaching the final stages leaks for possible new shirts are beginning to circulate online.
Arsenal are one of those clubs with Football Headlines sharing images of what could be the Gunners’ new home kit for the 2024/2025 season.
As is customary with Arsenal kits, the Adidas-manufactured shirt combines the traditional colours of red and white together with distinctive blue side labels and white sleeves.
But while it looks slick, many have noticed something which could backfire.
‘They know who they are’
The design of the shirt makes it look like the outline of a bottle and given Arsenal’s recent defeats, which saw them lose ground in the Premier League title race and knocked out of the Champions League, supporters of other clubs have been keen to mock the design.
“The red part looks like a bottle, Adidas knows,” said one person on X.
“Love the bottle design in the middle…” a second added.
Another commented: “At least they know who they are.”
A fourth said: “”I can only see a bottle.”
Shirt causes further controversy
It wasn’t just the bottle-esque look about the shirt that’s divided opinion.
Many Arsenal fans are frustrated that the leaked shirt only features a simplified version of the cannon that is present on Arsenal’s logo as oppose the traditional crest that it is on all of their previous shirts.
Mikel Arteta’s side travel to the West Midlands to face Wolves on Saturday in a bid to get their campaign back on track after back-to-back defeats.
