Real Madrid forward ready to fight with megastar for starting spot in Xabi Alonso’s team

Posted on September 4, 2025 by sportsmars60@gmail.com

According to AS, it has been learned that Rodrygo is eager to make his mark at Real Madrid this season by competing with Vinicius Jr. for the left-wing spot.

The Brazilian forward has made it clear to Xabi Alonso that he wants to play in his preferred position, and the coach has welcomed the idea.

However, he knows that earning minutes won’t be easy, as Vinicius remains a key figure in the squad.

This summer, Rodrygo was linked with moves to several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, but he decided to stay in Madrid.

The forward believes that Real Madrid offers the perfect platform for him to develop, and he is determined to prove his worth.

Rodrygo has repeatedly expressed to Alonso that the left wing is where he feels most effective. Alonso respects this ambition and is ready to integrate it into his tactical plans.

Friendly competition driving performances

Rodrygo and Vinicius are teammates and friends with the Brazilian national team, but at Real Madrid, they are now competitors for the same position.

Alonso sees this rivalry as a way to motivate both players. In the opening games, we have already seen how the rotation works.

Rodrygo started against Oviedo while Vinicius came off the bench, making a strong impression, and then Vinicius returned to the starting lineup against Mallorca, with Rodrygo contributing in the second half.

This back-and-forth could become a regular feature of the season. While Vinicius is the established starter, Rodrygo is unafraid to challenge him.

Commendable job by Alonso

His determination, combined with Alonso’s management, is expected to push both players to higher levels.

Real Madrid benefits from having two talented options on the left side, and this internal competition could be a key factor in keeping both players sharp.

Rodrygo’s focus, confidence, and willingness to compete signal that he is ready to seize any opportunity that comes his way this season.
