Arsenal could offer Takehiro Tomiyasu in deal to sign Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer Takehiro Tomiyasu in an exchange deal to Juventus for striker and long-term target Dusan Vlahovic.

According to Inter-Live, Arsenal are open to offering Takehiro Tomiyasu in a deal to sign striker target Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. Whether such a deal has any legs to it in the market remains to be seen, although, on paper, it could be an exciting proposition.

Arsenal have some problems in their attacking zones, with Mikel Arteta still keen on adding a top-draw striker. They have been linked with a few forwards from Serie A, with Marcus Thuram the latest to emerge as a name on their shortlist. There are others from elsewhere, like Viktor Gyokeres, but there’s something about those attackers in Italy that the Gunners feel optimistic about.

The other striker from Serie A is long-term target Dusan Vlahovic, who the Gunners failed to sign back in January 2022 when he chose to join Juventus from Fiorentina. Vlahovic remains a target for Arteta, as they could once again try to sign the Serbian next summer.

Now, the Gunners are reportedly formulating a plan for the 24-year-old Serie A attacker, as they are reportedly open to offering Takehiro Tomiyasu as part of a deal. Arsenal have plenty of defensive options to allow the Japanese international an exit if it helps them strengthen their attacking setup.

The same report suggests Arsenal are willing to offer the 25-year-old utility man in exchange for Inter Milan’s Thuram. If allowed to choose between the Frenchman and the Serbian, Arteta might decide to resurrect the interest in Vlahovic, and if they can find a way to sign him using a player like Tomiyasu, they can have a good deal on their hands.

Arsenal unlikely to offload Tomiyasu

There are reports that Arsenal are willing to sell Tomiyasu in January, but that will depend on how he returns to fitness in the coming weeks. The Japanese international has been out of action since pre-season, but he remains an integral part of Arteta’s plans.

Hence, they value him highly having recently extended his contract at the club. Moreover, should the exchange deal with Juventus come into consideration, the Bianconeri should also want him, as at this point, they may not have a requirement for a defender of the 25-year-old utility man’s profile.
