Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O’Hara has slammed the performance of the Arsenal attackers in their 0-0 draw at Atalanta on Thursday night.
Arsenal walked away with a 0-0 draw from the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday night in their opening Champions League game of the season.
The Gunners were lucky to escape with a point as David Raya produced a double save from Mateo Retegui after Thomas Partey conceded a penalty.
The away side kept the home side at bay but Arsenal struggled to produce clear-cut chances and only had two attempts on target throughout the game.
Arsenal are missing their creative talisman Martin Odegaard but they looked a bit short of ideas up front in Italy and laboured to create good opportunities.
Jamie O’Hara slams Arsenal for looking poor in attack in Bergamo on Thursday night
The former Tottenham star admitted that Arsenal have been defensively rock solid and again looked very good at the back in Italy as well.
However, he pointed out that in attack Arsenal looked clueless and out of ideas against the Serie A side away from home in the Champions League.
The talkSPORT pundit slammed the Gunners for being ‘abysmal’ and ‘terrible’ going forward against a side who are sitting ninth in Serie A at this stage of the season.
“They are good defensively”, O’Hara said on talkSPORT.
“But going forward mate, that was abysmal.
“That was terrible.”
Arsenal are reasonably happy with a point from their first Champions League game away from home at this early stage of the season.
However, they will hope that their forwards step up when they visit the Etihad to take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.
They will need their defence to keep their strong performances going as well, given Manchester City’s attacking depth led by Erling Haaland who has scored nine goals in the first four Premier League games.
