Arsenal are yet to finalise the sale of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton.
The Gunners are expected to part ways with at least a couple of their players on transfer deadline day after selling Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham earlier in this window.
One of them is Eddie Nketiah, who is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace after everything was agreed between the two clubs.
Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton is the other deal that is expected to go through, but Arsenal haven’t rubberstamped it yet for one key reason.
Arsenal are ‘holding off’ on signing Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton paperwork
TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed the latest on Arsenal’s sale of Ramsdale to Southampton.
The Englishman’s future has been up in the air all summer after he lost his place under Mikel Arteta in September 2023. The Gunners boss chose David Raya over him.
After Raya’s loan move was officially made permanent in July, it became clear that there was no way back for Ramsdale to become the club’s number one.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs over the last few weeks, and there were many twists in the tale.
But, Southampton finally agreed a deal with Arsenal for Ramsdale, and the goalkeeper has already undergone a medical ahead of a potential move.
However, Arsenal haven’t signed the final paperwork yet for one reason. They aren’t ready to sanction Ramsdale’s sale before they sign a replacement.
Crook said: “Arsenal in talks with Bournemouth over a loan move for goalkeeper Neto.
“The Gunners are holding off on signing Aaron Ramsdale paperwork for his Southampton move until they have secured their replacement.”
