Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Eddie Nketiah this summer, but Dougie Freedman is not done.
After a slow-moving but busy summer at Selhurst Park, now Dougie Freedman has a blockbuster final few days on his hands.
Eddie Nketiah looks set to join as the fourth arrival for Crystal Palace this summer, but now it has been reported that the Eagles also asked Arsenal about another player.
The Eagles have serious business to do which includes replacing several stars who have been sold
Crystal Palace are set to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal in a deal worth £25m initially with an additional £5m in add-ons.
The striker has been granted permission to undergo a medical for the Eagles, but now it has been reported a second player from Arsenal has been targeted – all while Sam Johnstone is a target for Arsenal.
According to The Guardian, Crystal Palace have registered their interest in Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal – after the centre-back cost the Gunners £20m.
Arsenal however are yet to decide his future, with it not being clear if he will be sold or loaned out. In the event Crystal Palace do push forward with interest, there will be competition from Bologna.
Kiwior would be a pretty smart addition to replace Joachim Andersen after his £30m move to Fulham. It might also be with the view to replacing Marc Guehi should his move to Newcastle come off.
An interest in Kiwior is just the latest central defender that Crystal Palace have shown a fondness for over the past few weeks in a bid to strengthen after losing Andersen.
With Maxence Lacroix the favoured option, Lacroix is unlikely to surpass him, given that Kiwior has been deployed primarily as a left-back for Arsenal.
But under Oliver Glasner, we imagine he would be viewed as an option on the left side of the back three.
Kiwior is very good on the ball and at passing which are qualities that Glasner will want in a centre-back for his team.
But if we had to choose, Kiwior would not be top of our list to replace Andersen.
