‘Outstanding’ forward who both Arsenal and Tottenham want to sign could be late transfer ‘surprise’

Just a matter of days remain for the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to pull off any late deals in the summer market.

Neither of the north London sides have been particularly busy when it comes to arrivals although Ange Postecoglou‘s side have certainly added more.

Mikel Arteta has, so far, had to settle for just the one signing in Riccardo Calafiori but Arsenal are now on the verge of sealing Mikel Merino’s arrival at the Emirates.

Both sides have been specific in how they have worked in the window with both managers very selective as to the type of players they bring through the doors.

It will be interesting to see how that could pan out over the coming days with some late opportunities potentially emerging in the market.

And it seems as if there is one target for both Arsenal and Tottenham who could be set to make a late move ahead of Friday’s deadline.

£275k-per-week Arsenal and Tottenham target set for late move this week

With Arsenal still awaiting the confirmation on Merino, Spurs were the last of the north London rivals to bring in a new player.

Wilson Odobert impressed Heung-min Son on his Tottenham debut over the weekend following his £25m move from Burnley.

However, there is still room to improve in attack for both of these sides and it seems as an opportunity could present itself to them over the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a late move for Kingsley Coman could be one of the deals to watch out for in the final hours.

“A player to watch in the final 24 hours, 48 hours, 56 hours or whatever. In the final days is Kingsley Coman because interest in Coman is still there,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“It’s a strong interest from Premier League clubs, from Barcelona. Barca are considering Coman and Federico Chiesa.”

“Kingsley Coman has several possibilities also in England. So he’s going to be one to watch for the final days because there is still an expectation for Coman to leave Bayern. There could be a surprise with Coman.”

Kingsley Coman’s wages could be an issue

Coman has now decided he would like to leave Bayern Munich before the end of play on Friday evening.

And both Arsenal and Tottenham have privately spoken about potentially signing Coman over the summer already.

However, the reported £275k-per-week salary of the France international will surely be a concern to the two Premier League clubs.

At that kind of weekly wage, both clubs would be looking to place Coman in their starting XI and that is something which may not be possible at Arsenal.

For Spurs, that kind of money would break their wage structure and it has to be questioned whether they’d pay Coman in that region when Son does not even earn that kind of money.

An interesting few days certainly lies ahead of the ‘outstanding‘ 28-year-old winger.
