Chido Obi-Martin named in Denmark under-18s squad
While Chido Obi-Martin waits for Manchester United clearance, he has been given a competitive fixture to look forward to.
According to Danish Scout on X, Denmark’s under-18s squad to take on Sweden in the upcoming international break features Chido Obi-Martin.
Obi-Martin has most recently represented Denmark at under-17s level, where he has scored 12 goals in 19 appearances.
He actually played for England at under-16s level before switching allegiance to Denmark, and he has admitted he idolises current forward Rasmus Hojlund.
Obi-Martin’s involvement for Denmark’s under-18s side will be important for his match sharpness as he waits to get his club season in 2024/25 underway.
Manchester United waiting on Obi-Martin
Manchester United are waiting on FA clearance for Chido Obi-Martin and Samuel Lusale, who joins from Crystal Palace’s academy.
Obi-Martin is a record setting striker who scored 32 goals for Arsenal’s under-18s side last season.
He will initially go into Manchester United’s academy teams, with a pathway to step up into the first team if he settles and takes his opportunities.
Obi-Martin did not believe there was a pathway at Arsenal, in contrast to the way Erik ten Hag has given debuts to several young prospects, with some becoming integral first team players.
For United fans waiting to get a further glimpse of Obi-Martin, Denmark’s under-18 fixtures will be worth keeping an eye on in early September.
