Fabrizio Romano says ‘aggressive’ Arsenal target is close to joining Southampton

Arsenal look set for a busy end to the summer transfer window as they aim to fine-tune their squad.

Riccardo Calafiori joined the club earlier this summer and a deal to bring Mikel Merino to the Emirates Stadium is imminent, signaling a massive boost for Mikel Arteta.

However, there could be a bit of a re-jig in the goalkeeping department, with Aaron Ramsdale linked with a move to Wolves.

If the Englishman leaves, Arsenal are likely to dip into the transfer market for a replacement.

However, it appears as if Justin Bijlow – one of their targets in this position – is now ready to have his medical at Southampton.

Justin Bijlow set to join Southampton from Feyenoord

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch international is set to join Southampton after the Saints agreed a deal with Feyenoord.

Bijlow is described as an ‘aggressive’ shot-stopper and has been capped eight times by the Netherlands so far.

The 26-year-old is set to have his medical early next week after the final details of the deal are sorted.

What next for Arsenal before deadline day?

Bijlow was on the list as a potential replacement for Ramsdale, but the Gunners will now have to look elsewhere.

Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia is attracting interest from Arsenal, with the club expected to press ahead with a deal for the Spanish goalkeeper if Ramsdale secures a transfer.

£21m star Garcia has agreed personal terms with the Gunners despite being linked with Tottenham earlier this summer.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have been linked with a move to Nico Williams, although there is a belief that a deal will be hard to pull off at this stage of the transfer window.

With just over a week to go for the transfer window to slam shut, the Gunners face a race against time to add to their squad.
