Charlie Patino poised to seal Deportivo La Coruna switch

Arsenal academy prospect Charlie Patino is reportedly all set to join Spanish second-division outfit Deportivo La Coruna.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Charlie Patino is all set to part ways with Arsenal and join Deportivo La Coruna. Both clubs have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of the English midfield sensation, with the move expected to be official in the coming days.

Patino joined the Gunners back in 2015. He came up the ranks at some pace and was already a big name at the North London club as a teenager. The 20-year-old was a regular in first-team training at 18, and he surely made a statement with a goal on his senior debut in a Carabao Cup win over Sunderland in December 2021.

But, things have not been that great for him post that. While he was handed a few opportunities, Patino could not make the most out of it, and he has been linked with a move away for some time now. The English youth international had an impressive loan spell at Blackpool during the 2022/23 season and was expected to break into the Arsenal first team upon his return.

However, things did not go according to plan and new arrivals resulted in him being sent out on loan again. This time he ended up joining Swansea City and had a great time there. While he did return to his parent club and was a part of their pre-season, Mikel Arteta does not count on him, and Arsenal have been looking to offload him, with the player also ready to leave.

Arsenal agree to sell Patino for just £1 million

With the Gunners ready to sell, there has been significant interest in his services. But, to everyone’s surprise, the 20-year-old midfield sensation is all set to join a Spanish second-division club, Deportivo La Coruna.

Patino wants regular first-team action, and it is pretty much guaranteed that he will start the majority of his matches at the Spanish club. It might be the biggest reason to join them.

Arsenal fans will surely be shocked to learn the fact that they have decided to sanction his departure for just £1 million as a fixed fee. But, they have a significant sell-on clause which could help them earn a significant amount in the years to come. Patino is excited about the new chapter with Deportivo La Coruna and is all set to move to Spain.
