Olympique Marseille have re-launched their pursuit of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah. According to Fabrizio Romano, the French side has submitted a fresh bid for the one-cap England international.
The Ligue 1 side have been long-term admirers of the 25-year-old and believe he could be a valuable addition to their squad.
Nketiah has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, with manager Mikel Arteta opting for Gabriel Jesus ahead of him.
The Spanish manager has also used Kai Havertz as a false nine instead of the Hale End academy graduate. This has opened the door for a potential move away, with the player keen on a fresh challenge.
Marseille have already strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, but manager Roberto De Zerbi is keen to add further firepower to his squad. Nketiah has been identified as a top target.
Arsenal are believed to be open to selling Nketiah this summer. Per reports in France, they have reportedly lowered their asking price to around €25 million. They were hoping for €35m but are now open to accepting a reduced fee to facilitate the move.
The north Londoners have only signed Riccardo Calfiori this summer and need more reinforcement to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Arteta needs a new centre-forward to potentially replace Nketiah and challenge Jesus following his underwhelming 2023/24 campaign.
It has been quiet for the Gunners on the striker front after missing out on Benjamin Sesko at the beginning of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal fans will be desperate for new links to a striker in the coming weeks as they look to end their 20-year wait for a league title.
