One of Europe’s most sought-after players wants to join Arsenal over Chelsea.
Arsenal have just added Riccardo Calafiori to their ranks and they aren’t planning to rest on their laurels, with a midfielder and attacker now on the shortlist.
Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is close to making the switch to North London and Mikel Arteta will be hopeful of a third addition after that.
With that said, one of their reported striker targets is thought to prefer a move to Arsenal over Chelsea.
Victor Osimhen wants to join Arsenal over Chelsea
Arsenal have been linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for much of the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international has been of interest to a number of top clubs around the continent, with Paris Saint-Germain the most advanced suitors for a time.
Though, that deal has gone quiet and now Arsenal have been brought back into the equation in a fresh report from Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian outlet notes that Osimhen is believed to prefer a move to Arteta’s side over Chelsea, perhaps due to the lure of Champions League football.
Victor Osimhen price tag
Osimhen, who is under contract at Napoli until 2026, is believed to have an asking price of around £86m.
That’s significantly lower than the £109m valuation the Serie A club had this time last year, so it’s evident that they’re willing to move him on.
Whether Arsenal are prepared to meet that fee remains to be seen but with the sale of Eddie Nketiah expected to go through, that could fund an offer.
In other news, club president says he knows his ‘world class’ £40m player has received offers after links to Arsenal.
