Player Ratings: Arsenal 0-1 Tottenham

Posted on August 1, 2025August 1, 2025 by sportsmars60@gmail.com

The Arsenal player ratings from the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong this afternoon, as Viktor Gyokeres makes his debut.

Viktor Gyokeres - Arsenal

Arsenal fell 1-0 to Tottenham in a pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Stadium, Hong Kong, on July 31, 2025, ending their unbeaten Asia tour. Here’s how the Gunners rated in a lackluster North London Derby.

David Raya – 4/10
Raya struggled, flapping at corners and caught off his line for Pape Sarr’s stunning halfway-line lob. An uncharacteristically shaky display from Arsenal’s No. 1.

Ben White – 6/10
White had a mixed game against Wilson Odobert, improving in the second half with overlapping runs. A slight deflection denied Odobert a goal, but White lacked his usual passing precision.

William Saliba – 7/10
Arsenal’s standout, Saliba was composed, clearing a Richarlison header off the line and nearly scoring. His calmness under pressure was a bright spot.

Jakub Kiwior – 6/10
Kiwior was solid but caught napping for Richarlison’s first-half chance. He recovered well, sweeping up loose balls as Arsenal pushed forward.

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 5/10
Lewis-Skelly’s error led to Sarr’s goal, possibly fouled by Richarlison. He struggled against Spurs’ pace but showed resilience after the break.

Christian Norgaard – 6/10
Norgaard was steady, breaking up play early in the second half. His physicality was evident, though Spurs’ counters occasionally exposed him.

Declan Rice – 5/10
Rice was tidy but lacked impact, unable to dictate midfield tempo. A steady but unremarkable outing.

Martin Odegaard – 5/10
Odegaard missed an early chance and faded, struggling to create against Spurs’ low block. Below par for the captain.

Bukayo Saka – 6/10
Saka sparked in the second half but was forced off with a thigh injury, raising concerns. His flair was missed late on.

Gabriel Martinelli – 4/10
Martinelli was ineffective, skying a chance and failing to trouble Spurs. Fans’ calls for a new left winger grew louder.

Kai Havertz – 4/10
Havertz linked play but missed a tame chance, overshadowed by Viktor Gyokeres’ looming presence. A frustrating day.

Substitutes:

Viktor Gyokeres – 6/10
Gyokeres debuted but had limited service, showing glimpses of energy.

Max Dowman – N/A
Max Dowman was lively but lacked time to shine.
