Attacker who once gave Arsenal nightmares could help £50m Gunner leave this summer

An attacker who once tormented Arsenal could reportedly play a massive role in one player from the north London side leaving this summer.

The Gunners have been oddly quiet in the transfer window this year, with Mikel Arteta’s side still chasing Riccardo Calafiori, as Emile Smith Rowe continues to be linked with a permanent move away from Arsenal.

With Arsenal currently out in America ahead of the start of pre-season, fans of the north London side will be hopeful that new signings can be made soon, with departures also expected given the size of the first-team squad.

Yet one former rival could play a role in an Arsenal player leaving this summer.

Olympique Marseille to sell Ismaila Sarr to fund Eddie Nketiah move

According to the Evening Standard, Olympique Marseille are ready to sell winger Ismaila Sarr this summer in order to raise the money needed to sign Eddie Nketiah, who is keen on moving to the French club.

Arsenal fans will be familiar with Sarr after his years at Watford and at Stade Rennais, where the forward famously tore the Gunners apart in 2019 in the UEFA Europa League in a round of 16 tie under former manager Unai Emery.

Five years on, Sarr could now play a key role in Arsenal securing a major payday for Nketiah, who the north London side value as highly as £50m, a fee Marseille are unlikely to match this summer.

Indeed, Sarr’s departure from Marseille, potentially back to the Premier League with Crystal Palace, could be the final move that’s needed for Nkeitah to depart Arsenal, who after last season is in need of a change of scenery.

Arsenal departure will benefit Nketiah massively this summer

Nketiah has shown plenty of promise over the years at Arsenal, yet last season really showed how much the striker could benefit from a move away from north London in the summer transfer window.

And with Marseille making the right moves to finance a transfer, Nketiah could soon be getting his much-deserved exit in the coming weeks, with the Ligue 1 giants a dream destination for the England international.

A move will greatly benefit Nketiah, and with Marseille looking to spend big, Arsenal will recoup a good fee for the Hale End graduate, who is ready to become a star away from north London this summer.
