Arsenal are looking to sign a new winger this summer.
The likes of Pedro Neto have been linked with a move to Arsenal, but perhaps the most intriguing rumour regarding a new winger has been around Nico Williams.
The Spain star was the breakout player at Euro 2024, and it looks as though this summer could be the time for the attacker to make a move.
Nico Williams is said to be closing in on a move to Barcelona, but, as with any deal involving Barca, this one is far from a done deal.
Indeed, Barcelona have some serious financial issues, and there’s a chance this move collapses.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Williams’ next steps, and he says that while he does expect a move to Barcelona to go through, he says that Arsenal could re-enter this race if that deal does collapse.
Arsenal could go back in for Nico Williams
Jones shared what he knows about the £51m winger.
“Arsenal have been very interested in Nico Williams, still are in fact, if his deal to Barcelona were to collapse for any reason then I’m told that Nico Williams and Arsenal could be back on the cards,” Jones said.
“As it stands right now Barcelona are putting across the feeling that they can afford him and there would be no problems.”
“They have made a personal offer to him on the wages, which they believe is close to agreement. There’s been meetings this week to prioritise this, Deco has been involved, and it’s a big signing for Barcelona.”
Nico Williams would be the signing of the summer
This would potentially be the signing of the summer if Arsenal could get this deal done.
Williams showed at the Euros that he’s a truly world-class talent, and if he can bring that level of form over to the Premier League, Arsenal will be a frightening prospect in an attacking sense.
Williams is one of the top young talents in Europe, and it’s very exciting to ponder the idea of the Spaniard joining Arsenal this summer.
