Things might be going well for Arsenal at the moment but come 2025 they may be facing a huge fight to keep one of their best players.
The Gunners have assembled a squad full of talent and after pushing Manchester City closer than ever last season, now have a number of players who’d walk into most squads in the world.
Of course, the plan for Mikel Arteta is to keep the best Arsenal players around as long as possible and help continue to challenge for honours.
However, the Gunners also know that there are still a few bigger fish in Europe and should they come knocking, players may find it hard to turn down.
One of those big fish in Europe is Real Madrid.
And according to reports, the Spanish giants have their eyes on one of Arsenal’s prized possessions come 2025.
Real Madrid to make William Saliba bid in 2025
According to GiveMeSport, Los Blancos are looking into signing Saliba and are now putting together a plan to sign the Arsenal man.
Thankfully for the Gunners, it’s suggested no bid will be forthcoming right now as Madrid have other plans, mainly around Kylian Mbappe’s arrival.
However, in 2025 is where Arsenal need to be careful.
GMS suggests that Carlo Ancelotti is a huge fan of Saliba and is pushing Madrid to making sure they’re in a position to try and sign him in 2025.
For Arsenal, that means they’ve a year or so to work on tying Saliba down to the best contract possible or run the risk of losing him.
The French defender has excelled for Arsenal and France and he’s been lauded as being a ‘very special’ talent by Arsenal teammate, Gabriel Jesus.
Should Saliba be looked at and bid for by Madrid, the Gunners are expected to demand a huge sum of north of £100m to even consider a sale.
Saliba to Madrid, though, is one to watch and likely to gather momentum as the year goes by.
