One of Chelsea’s key players is reportedly open to joining Real Madrid in this summer transfer window.

In the past few years, a number of established Chelsea players have opted to move to Real Madrid. This includes Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, Antonio Rudiger, among others. Now another name could be added to this list. And it is one that not many would have seen coming, right after the Blues’ Club World Cup triumph.

Chelsea are currently known for having one of the strongest midfields in world football, featuring the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and more. However, that might soon change as it appears that Real Madrid are once again eyeing one of their superstars.

It was earlier reported that Real Madrid are interested in taking Fernandez away from Stamford Bridge. Now, new claims indicate that the Argentine international has made his decision regarding the potential move as well.

As reported by Fichajes, Fernandez has said yes to Real Madrid. The Spanish club are preparing an initial offer of €150 million to sign the Chelsea midfielder.

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez gives green light for a move to Real Madrid

Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023, shortly after lifting the FIFA World Cup. Although the Argentine midfielder had a rough start to his Premier League days, he has quickly gone on to become one of the best in his position.

The player scored nine goals and provided 17 assists in 53 appearances last season for the Blues. Fernandez is pivotal to Enzo Maresca’s plans for the future. So this report comes as a bit of a surprise to be honest, as Chelsea have no real reason to move on from the player. More so at a time when the club received a major financial boost following their Club World Cup win.

That said, if Fernandez does end up leaving Chelsea, it would create a major void in the midfield and the club will have to address that. But nothing is finalised as of yet and we should take this report with a pinch of salt for the time being.
