Arsenal star closing in on huge Saudi move

The transfer window officially opens for Premier League clubs on Friday, and top flight sides will already be working hard to bolster their squads this summer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will likely be keen to delve into the transfer market in the coming weeks, having seen his side finish as runners-up in the Premier League in each of the past two seasons.

The Spaniard will be working to identify potential targets, but in the meantime it appears that one of his most experienced players is edging closer to a move away from The Emirates.

As per Football Insider, midfielder Thomas Partey is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

The Ghana international’s representatives are said to be in talks over what would likely be a ‘huge deal’ for the player.

Partey is expected to leave Arsenal this summer

Partey, 31, joined the Gunners from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2020 and has since played 115 times for the North London club across all competitions.

The midfielder played a crucial role for Arteta’s side as they finished second in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign, but he struggled with injuries last term and played just 16 times in all competitions.

It is claimed that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the Ghanaian in the coming weeks, with Partey now expected to depart The Emirates.

Once Partey is sold, the report claims that Arsenal will then use the funds generated to sign a younger central midfielder.

Partey’s current contract with the Gunners is set to run until next summer, which means he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club from January onwards.

Arsenal are therefore keen to cash in on the midfielder this summer.
