Arsenal may well be losing out in the transfer race for both Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, with the former closing in on a deal with AC Milan and the latter opting to remain in the Bundesliga, but that has not diminished their transfer intent.
The latest reports have now linked the Gunners with a move for the Tottenham Hotspur target and former England youth international Marcus Edwards. According to reports from the Portuguese media outfit O Jogo, the Emirates Stadium are looking into the 25-year-old’s situation but could face a very familiar rival for his signature.
The former England youth star departed Spurs in 2019, having made one substitute appearance in the EFL Cup for the club. He signed for Vitoria Guimaraes on a free transfer – but a buy-back-clause was included in the deal – before joining Sporting Lisbon in 2022 where he has since scored six goals and registered nine assists.
Five years on, however, and Spurs appear to have remained interested in their academy graduate. However, it’s good news either way for the N17 club as, even if Ange Postecoglou does not sign Edwards, these latest reports suggest that Arsenal could well be indirectly helping finance their greatest rivals if they continue to pursue the ex-Lilywhite star.
