Alexander Isak has seemingly quashed chances of a move to Arsenal, admitting that he is happy with his position at current club Newcastle United.
The prolific Swede has gained serious interest from top European sides after bagging 25 goals in 40 games across all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign. His skill has is believed to have gained the favour of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who continue their search for a striker this summer.
However, it seems that Isak is content with the Magpies and does not seek a move away.
“I am enjoying myself at Newcastle, and I had the best season in my career, that should not be underestimated. I love everything about the club; the fans, and the city,” Isak told Fotballskanalen.
“It [my future] is not something I will speculate about, I have no thoughts on leaving. There has been no talk about it at the club and I have received no information that the could would have to sell me.”
Rumours regarding Isak’s potential transfer intensified when Manchester United secured an FA Cup victory over Manchester City, snatching Newcastle’s place in European football for next season. It was thought that Isak would want to make his mark on the international stage, making Arsenal a solid choice given their Champions League status.
Isak became Newcastle’s record signing when he made the move to St James’ Park from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, costing the club £63m. The 24-year-old became the club’s top goalscorer this past season, ahead of England internationals Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson.
Arsenal may be forced to look elsewhere for a striker and have already also been heavily linked with Benjamin Sesko, Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen.
