Fabrizio Romano says £50m striker has snubbed Saudi offers amid Arsenal links

Arsenal will be eager to bolster their ranks in the summer and give themselves the best possible chance of winning the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners have improved considerably under Mikel Arteta, going from an upper mid-table side to a team challenging for the title and reaching the Champions League knockouts.

However, Arsenal sadly fell short of winning the title in the last two seasons, so they’ll be eager to go all the way next term.

And in order to do that, they’ll have to add yet more quality to their ranks, with a new striker said to be very high on their wishlist.

Arsenal didn’t have a standard No. 9 last season, which arguably cost them some very crucial points in the title race.

The Gunners are currently being linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Fabrizio Romano has now issued an update on the situation involving the striker and the north Londoners.

Romano, writing on GiveMeSport, said the Gunners aren’t close to landing Sesko, despite some reports doing the rounds.

However, the 20-year-old has reportedly snubbed offers from Saudi Arabia as he wants to test himself at the highest level in Europe.

“So at the moment, with Arsenal, it’s not something advanced or something close,” wrote Romano.

“Despite all the reports at the moment, we still have to see what the player wants to do. The first step will be with Leipzig.

“He received two very big proposals. It was around 30 million euros net per season salary from Saudi.

“But Sesko decided to say no, because he wants to continue in Europe at the best competitive level.”

Arsenal will fancy their chances of signing Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal will be pleased to hear that Sesko isn’t interested in joining the Saudi Pro League ranks, as it shows he wants to test himself at the highest level in Europe.

And given the Gunners are in the Champions League and will be optimistic about another title challenge, they will fancy their chances of attracting the ‘extremely quick‘ 20-year-old to N5.
