Premier League runners-up Arsenal have reportedly ramped up their efforts to sign Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu. The Gunners are believed to have been following the 24-year-old left-back for several months now, but in the last week the Emirates club appear to stepped up their chase for the Turkish international’s signature.
Last week, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the Gunners had been in talks with Kadioglu’s agents which was soon followed up by reports that Mikel Arteta’s side sent an official to Istanbul in order to hold talks with Kadioglu’s club.
The most recent update from Sabah, however, now suggests that the Emirates club are ‘pushing’ to sign the 24-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window. The north London club will likely face competition from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen who are also reported to have made a formal offer for the defender.
Born in the Netherlands and representing the Dutch international side at all youth levels, including U21, Kadioglu switched his international allegiance in 2022 and has gone on to make 15 appearances for the Turkish side. The defender – who can double as a midfielder or winger – first joined Fenerbahce in 2018 and has gone on to make nearly 150 SuperLig appearances for the club.
Kadioglu is expected to leave his current club in the next window but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners’ new proposal will be acceptable to the Yellow Canaries. Additionally, with Bayer Levekusen also in the mix, the 24-year-old may opt to head to a side that have just won their first ever Bundesliga title following an unbeaten campaign, and are the heavy favourites in two upcoming finals: the DFP-Pokal and UEFA Europa League.
