Breaking News: Astros Bring Back Power-Hitting Star in Shocking Comeback Attempt

The Houston Astros are bringing back an old friend.

According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, Jon Singleton is signing with the Astros.

This will be Singleton’s third stint with the Houston organization.

Singleton was most recently with the Mets, who just released him a handful of days ago.

The lefty slugger was a top prospect for Houston after they traded with the Phillies to acquire him, and the Astros even gave Singleton a contract extension before his MLB debut.

He hit below .200 in his first big league exposure, then dealt with substance abuse problems and spent time in the Mexican league.

Singleton made it back to MLB with the Brewers, then rejoined Houston in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he hit .234 with 13 homers.

The Astros are set at first base with Christian Walker, seemingly.

Singleton spent spring training with Houston before departing to the Mets.

This season at Triple-A Syracuse, Singleton has been feast or famine. He’s batting just .213, but has seven doubles, 12 homers and 42 RBI. His OPS is .801.

Houston will send Singleton to their Triple-A team, but his left-handed bat could eventually rise up to the majors once again.
