Arsenal might now have the perfect opportunity to sign ‘special’ £100m forward this summer

Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar could now have an excellent opportunity to deliver a statement signing for Arsenal this summer.

Although the focus at London Colney will still be on Arsenal’s crucial tie against Everton today, Mikel Arteta and his team will also be underway with their transfer plans.

Arsenal will likely look to conclude their business early in the summer once again, aiming to have their new additions in place for pre-season.

And whether Arsenal win the league today or not, it seems unlikely to have a huge impact on their plans to improve their squad.

It was long thought that Arteta would want to add a superstar goal-scorer this summer, especially when goals were hard to come by at the turn of the year.

However, Kai Havertz’s form as a false nine has changed the complexion of the situation, meaning the club may target more of a ‘project player’.

A move for a player like Victor Osimhen seems to be off the table, especially with Gabriel Jesus around too.

Arsenal could have perfect opportunity to sign Evan Ferguson following Roberto De Zerbi exit

According to a report by The Telegraph, several Brighton players will now consider their future following De Zerbi’s decision.

And although he’s still under a long-term contract with the club, perhaps this could create an opportunity for Arsenal to sign Evan Ferguson.

The club are said to have long-standing interest in the 19-year-old who is considered to have ‘special’ potential despite not really kicking on this season.

The aforementioned report doesn’t name Ferguson as a player considering an exit, but there still could be an opportunity for Arsenal.

A price tag of £100m has been pointed to in the past, one that would surely be considered far too much by the north London club.

However, if a compromise could be found then Ferguson would be an extremely exciting profile to add to this squad.

Would Evan Ferguson now be a better fit than Gabriel Jesus?

The Republic of Ireland international has a different skillset to both Jesus and Havertz, and would be afforded time to improve.

It would be a lot of funds for Arteta to commit to such a project, but with talk of Jesus also being available this summer, perhaps a deal could be timely.

It promises to be a summer of change at Arsenal, which may be a bit of a surprise given all of their success.

However, it’s simply unsustainable to have so many strong players on the periphery of things, the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smith Rowe.

All that being said, one Arsenal youngster has just confirmed that he’ll be leaving once the season concludes.
