Blue Jays Star Max Scherzer Announces Major News Before Angels Game

The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels are set to begin a three-game series at Angel Stadium on Tuesday night. The Blue Jays, with a 16-18 record, are looking to improve their standing in the American League East, while the Angels, at 13-20, aim to climb the AL West rankings. Toronto’s road performance has been underwhelming, holding a 5-10 record away from home, whereas the Angels have a 6-7 home record.

The Blue Jays will be without veteran pitcher Max Scherzer, who has been sidelined since March 29 due to inflammation in his right thumb, with Tuesday’s pitching matchup set to feature José Berríos (1-1, 3.98 ERA) for the Blue Jays against Tyler Anderson (2-0, 2.67 ERA) for the Angels. Scherzer was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 30 and later transferred to the 60-day IL on May 5, making him eligible to return no earlier than May 29.

Since Scherzer’s injury, the Blue Jays have struggled to find consistency in their pitching rotation. With Scherzer’s return still weeks away, Toronto will rely on its lineup and remaining pitching staff to navigate this crucial stretch of the season.

While Scherzer will not suit up against the Angels on Tuesday night, he has been making progress in his recovery. Ahead of the game, it was reported that the 40-year-old veteran threw at Angel Stadium. Scherzer also informed reporters that he plans to face live hitters soon. While his thumb is improving, Scherzer noted that the real test will be how it responds the day after pitching in a game-like setting.

As the series against the Angels commences, the Blue Jays will look to capitalize on their offensive strengths. If the team cam stay afloat while Scherzer works back from injury, a playoff spot in the American League is not out of reach.

Taking care of the struggling Angels will be key for Toronto.
