Arsenal have already been dealt one blow this summer as they search for a new attacking player and it looks like they might be in for another as well.
The Gunners were in the mix to sign Benjamin Sesko up until a week or so ago but the big striker has instead penned fresh terms with RB Leipzig.
That means other targets are now on the wanted list at Arsenal, with a number of big names being linked with the club.
The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Ivan Toney and Artem Dovbyk are all believed to be in the radar for Arsenal.
However, another name they were being linked with signing to fill those attacking slots now appears to have done a U-turn and decided he wants to remain in Italy.
Federico Chiesa wants to stay with Juventus, amid Arsenal interest
Italian forward Chiesa is on Arsenal’s list of potential signings and has been linked with a move to The Emirates in the last few days.
However, while the £25m-rated forward looked set to be on his way out of Turin, journalist Rudy Galetti has now suggested he could stay.
Taking to X to share an update on Chiesa, Galetti has now claimed that Chiesa is actually looking to remain with Juve for the time being.
Chiesa was always a dubious one for Arsenal anyway
If Chiesa does end up staying in Italy it will be little surprise really.
Many of the best Italian footballers around prefer to stay in their home country. We’ve seen the likes of Totti, Del Piero and Pirlo over the years all be among the world’s best but never take the leap outside of Italy in their prime.
With Chiesa, it could very much be a similar sort of thinking and in fairness, there’s questions over whether he’d suit Arsenal fully anyway.
At the minute, Arsenal need that player who can occupy the number nine slot and Chiesa is not necessarily that type of player.
