£12m player suggests he’s got no interest in joining Arsenal this summer

A £12m player has publically stated that he has zero interest in signing for Arsenal this summer despite a reported bid being made.

The Gunners are once again looking to overhaul their goalkeeping options this window, with Aaron Ramsdale reportedly set to leave Arsenal, as Wolves shot-stopper Dan Bentley has emerged as a target for the north London side.

With Espanyol youngster Joan Garcia also wanted by Arsenal, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta is looking to flesh out his options beyond David Raya, who earlier this month was announced as a permanent signing from Brentford.

Yet one goalkeeper linked with Arsenal has now ruled out a move to the Premier League side.

Andriy Lunin rules out Real Madrid exit after rumoured Arsenal bid

Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin made it very clear that he does not want to leave Los Blancos this summer, despite Arsenal reportedly making a bid for the Ukrainian international.

Lunin said when asked about if he will leave Madrid this summer in order to play first-team football elsewhere: “I want to stay at Real Madrid and I want to play, I’ve been clear already.”

Valued at £12m, Lunin emerged as a real asset for Madrid last season with Thibaut Courtois out for the majority of the year and loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga failing to impress between the sticks for the European champions.

Yet with Courtois now fully fit and expected to be Madrid’s starting keeper again, Lunin digging his feet and stating he wants to remain with the Spanish giants is a bold move, considering the potential possibilities of playing for a club like Arsenal.

Lunin could have been the dream Ramsdale replacement this summer

With Lunin Madrid’s defacto no. 1 last season, the Ukrainian international would have been a dream signing for Arsenal this summer if Ramsdale was to eventually leave north London for greener pastures.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is used to playing second-choice and has impressed whenever called upon to start between the sticks for Madrid, with Lunin playing a key role in Los Blancos’ run to the Champions League final.

Yet with the keeper shutting down rumours of a move to Arsenal, the Gunners will have to look elsewhere for a replacement for Ramsdale, with a younger option likely to be a more ideal signing.
